Our course covers movement techniques, belaying for sport climbing, decision-making, problem-solving, and handling emergency scenarios. You will meet other climbers at a similar level and enjoy some great climbs together. By the end of the course, you'll be a more confident, safer, and happier sport climber!
This course is based in Aviemore, at the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, surrounded by the rugged beauty of Scotland's Highlands. Aviemore is well-connected by road, rail, and air, and offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit all budgets. While the village will be our base, we’ll explore various Highland locations to make the most of the weather and conditions, ensuring you have the best experience possible.

Day 1 - Mastering Ropework and Rock Climbing Fundamentals
Begin your rock climbing adventure by meeting your expert instructor. You'll start with an overview of the key differences between indoor and outdoor rock climbing techniques. The day's focus will be on mastering ropework and ensuring safety. Learn the essentials of lead climbing, including how to ascend and descend cliffs effectively. Dive into the intricacies of sport climbing belaying and discover various belay devices. By the end of the day, you'll have a solid foundation in outdoor climbing techniques and safety protocols.
Day 2 - Advanced Problem Solving and Skill Enhancement
Today's session is all about applying and refining the skills you learned on Day 1 in a new rock climbing environment. You'll tackle real-world problem-solving scenarios and learn how to retreat safely from a sport climb. Gain confidence through fall practice, understanding how to safely catch a fall as a belayer. This is also your opportunity to ask any rock climbing questions and receive personalized feedback from your instructor. You'll leave with enhanced climbing skills and a clear understanding of the best next steps to take in your climbing journey.
No prior experience is required to join this sport rock climbing course, making it accessible to everyone. However, having some indoor rock climbing experience beforehand can help you get the most out of the course.
I will tailor the course to your individual needs and match you with others of complementary abilities, ensuring that both beginners and experienced climbers make great progress towards becoming safe, confident, and independent climbers throughout the week.
